The Morning Bone is a daily email newsletter for UK dog owners, published by Everyday Publisher Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy — meaning we decide why and how your personal data is used.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please email us at hello@everydaypublisher.com.
We collect and process personal information about you in the following ways.
When you sign up to receive The Morning Bone, we collect:
Each time we send you an email, our email platform (ActiveCampaign — see section 5) may collect:
Links inside The Morning Bone are cloaked through our own tracked-link system. When you click a link, our server briefly logs the click — including the time, your approximate country, a partial identifier derived from your IP address, and your browser type — before redirecting you to the destination website. We use this to understand which content our readers find most interesting.
From time to time, we include a survey link in the newsletter. If you respond, we collect:
The Morning Bone has a reader referral programme powered by SubscriberMint. If you share a referral link and someone subscribes through it, we (and SubscriberMint) collect information about the referral, including:
If you visit morningbone.co via a referral link, SubscriberMint may set a cookie or use similar tracking technology to attribute the visit to the referrer.
Like most websites, our server may automatically receive and log basic information when you visit morningbone.co, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and the pages you visit. We do not use traditional analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) on this site. The only third-party tracking present is the SubscriberMint referral script described in section 2.4.
We use your personal data for the following purposes.
| Purpose | Legal basis under UK GDPR |
|---|---|
| Sending you The Morning Bone newsletter (the service you subscribed to) | Consent — you gave us permission when you signed up |
| Personalising the newsletter with your first name | Consent |
| Tracking email opens and link clicks to understand engagement | Legitimate interests — we have a legitimate interest in understanding how readers engage with content so we can improve it, and this does not override your rights |
| Analysing survey responses to improve content quality and relevance | Legitimate interests |
| Running the reader referral programme | Legitimate interests / Consent where required |
| Complying with legal obligations (e.g. maintaining unsubscribe records) | Legal obligation |
The Morning Bone website (morningbone.co) uses a small number of cookies.
These are essential for the website to function. They do not require your consent.
| Cookie | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Session / authentication cookies | Used if you are logged into any subscriber-facing features |
If you arrive at morningbone.co via a referral link, SubscriberMint may set a cookie to record the referral source. This cookie is used solely to attribute new subscriptions to the correct referrer. It does not track your activity across other websites.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, Google Analytics cookies, or any third-party behavioural tracking cookies.
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the newsletter. Each of these is a data processor acting on our instructions.
Your email address and subscription data are stored in ActiveCampaign, which we use to send the newsletter, track email engagement, and manage your preferences.
SubscriberMint processes data related to the referral programme, including referral codes and new subscriber attribution.
morningbone.co is hosted on infrastructure that may process your IP address as part of normal web serving. These providers act as processors under data processing agreements.
We may disclose personal data if required to do so by law, or in response to a valid request from a public authority (e.g. a court or regulator). We will notify you of such requests to the extent permitted by law.
| Data type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Subscriber email address and name | Until you unsubscribe, plus a reasonable period thereafter to honour unsubscribe requests and maintain suppression lists |
| Email engagement data (opens, clicks) | Up to 3 years from the date of the interaction, or until you request deletion |
| Survey responses | Up to 3 years from submission |
| Click / link tracking logs | Up to 2 years from the click event |
| Referral data | Up to 3 years from the referral event |
After these periods, data is either deleted or anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you.
If you unsubscribe, we will stop sending you emails. We retain a record of your email address on our suppression list to ensure we do not accidentally re-add you to the newsletter in the future. This is on the basis of legitimate interest and legal obligation.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the following rights in relation to your personal data.
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at hello@everydaypublisher.com. We will respond within one calendar month. In some cases we may need to verify your identity before processing the request.

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with our legal obligations.
The Morning Bone is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately at hello@everydaypublisher.com and we will delete it.
The newsletter and website contain links to third-party websites and content. This privacy policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any website you visit. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if our practices change or if required by law. When we make material changes, we will notify subscribers by email or by posting a prominent notice on morningbone.co. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect when the policy was most recently revised.

If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection supervisory authority.
